    Service & maintenance

    Your vehicle comes standard with the following service options:

     

    ToyotaCare Service Plan

    For the next 5 years or 90 000km, your scheduled manufacturer’s services are covered by the ToyotaCare Service Plan. When you take your Toyota for a service during the first 5 years or 90 000km, you will not pay for the following:

    • Oil, oil filters and sump plug gaskets.
    • Air filters.
    • Spark plugs.
    • Fuel filters.
    • Brake fluid.
    • Consumables or sundry charges.
    • Remote control batteries.
    • Long life coolant.
    • Labour charges for the services specified in the Book of Life.


    Consult this web site or your ToyotaCare Book of life for details on the regular maintenance scheduling and a comprehensive list of service items covered by the ToyotaCare Service Plan. The ToyotaCare Service Plan will give a totally new meaning to peace of mind motoring. Enjoy it.

    Warranty

    Your vehicle comes standard with a Toyota Vehicle Warranty:

    ToyotaCare Vehicle Warranty

    The ToyotaCare warranty will cover any defective materials and workmanship on your Toyota Prius for 3 years of 100 000km, whichever occurs first. The 200V battery that powers the electric motor is warranted for 3 years/100 000km, whichever occurs first and the 12V auxiliary battery that powers the vehicles electrical system (eg. the lights) is warranted for a period of 12 months.

    Conditions of sale

    The vehicle warranty is designed to offer you peace-of-mind. However, the warranty does not cover :

    • Vehicles that have been subjected to negligence, misuse, alteration or modification.
    • Vehicles that have been serviced or repaired by anyone other than an authorised Toyota distributor or dealer.
    • Vehicles that have been subjected to any form of competition.
    • Normal maintenance and service costs as per the service schedule and the replacement cost of service items.
    • Vehicles that have a problem arising from using parts and accessories other than those approved by Toyota.
    • Vehicles that are not maintained or serviced according to the presented service schedule.
    • Any vehicle which has been involved in an accident.
    • Any consequential cost resulting from a component failure.
    • A vehicle if the incorrect type of fuel has been used.
    • Normal wear-and-tear.


    Some components are specifically excluded from this warranty. The warranty is valid and applicable only to vehicles sold, registered and operating in South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland and Botswana.

    For extra peace of mind, you may choose to upgrade to a Toyota Extra Care Warranty - available at a small additional cost from your dealer.

    Toyota Extra Care Warranty

    With this plan you have the choice to extend your manufacturer's warranty by 1 year to 150 000km or 2 years and 180 000km. It is available at a small additional cost from your dealer and can be included in the purchase price of your new Toyota vehicle.

    The following items are excluded from the extended warranty:

    • Timing belt replacement.
    • Shock absorbers.
    • Exhaust systems.
    • Body, paint and trim.
    • Fuel system corrosion.
    • In-car entertainment equipment.
    • Batteries.
    • Glass.
    • Tyres.
    • Re-gassing of air conditioner system as well as the receiver dryer unit.
    • Accessories and components that are not original equipment fitted in the Toyota manufacturing plant.
    • Brake discs/drums and all friction materials.
    • Remote control for immobiliser unit, including battery.
    • All friction materials and normal wear and tear.

    ToyotaCare Roadside Assistance

    Toyota's Roadside Assistance Programme is applicable to all Toyota models under warranty for a period of 3 years/100 000km.

    If your vehicle becomes immobile phone 0800-13-9111 (South Africa) or 061 210 780 (Namibia) any time of the day or night.

    ToyotaCare Roadside Assistance entitles you to the following 24 hour emergency roadside assistance benefits:

    • Out of fuel assistance,
    • Jump-start service and/or replacement of battery (if battery is still under 1 year guarantee),
    • Change of flat tyre,
    • Key lockout service,
    • Towing of your vehicle to the nearest Toyota dealership in the event of a mechanical/electrical breakdown (should a roadside repair not be possible),
    • Message relay service.

    Toyota SA has carefully organised every detail of the roadside assistance programme to make sure that your motoring is as carefree as possible.
